Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and HeroQuest (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing or using HeroQuest at heroquest.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to purchase a reading from HeroQuest. By using the service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old, that you are using the service for personal use, and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

HeroQuest is a personality archetype reading service. You answer twenty questions about how you move through the world, and our service determines your primary and secondary archetype from a set of eight, then delivers a literary reading corresponding to that archetype combination. The reading is delivered as a personalized web page accessible via a unique link associated with your email address upon completion of payment.

To receive your reading, you must provide a valid email address. We use email-based one-time password (OTP) authentication. You are responsible for maintaining access to the email address you provide and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

The HeroQuest reading is a one-time purchase, currently priced at twenty-nine US dollars ($29). Prices are listed in USD and are subject to change at any time. Any price changes will not affect previously completed purchases. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your card details on our servers.

Sales tax, value-added tax, or similar taxes may be added at checkout depending on your location and applicable law.

The HeroQuest reading is a digital good delivered immediately upon successful payment. Once delivered, the reading cannot be returned, and all sales are considered final.

We will consider a refund at our sole and absolute discretion in the following limited circumstances:

• Technical failure. If a verifiable technical issue prevents you from receiving the reading you purchased (for example, the page failed to load, the reading did not unlock after payment confirmed, persistent system error), contact us within thirty (30) days of purchase and we will work to resolve the issue or, if resolution is not possible, issue a refund.
• Duplicate or unauthorized charge. If you were charged more than once for the same purchase, or if a charge was made without your authorization, contact us promptly so we can investigate and reverse the charge as appropriate.
• Recognition discretion. Within fourteen (14) days of purchase, you may request a refund by contacting us with specific written feedback explaining why the reading did not recognize you. Such requests are reviewed individually. We may grant or decline these requests at our sole discretion. We may decline requests that, in our judgment, appear to be made in bad faith, appear to be based on having consumed the full reading, or appear to constitute a pattern of abuse.

To request a refund under any of the above circumstances, contact us at support@heroquest.app. Approved refunds are issued via the original payment method and may take five (5) to ten (10) business days to appear, depending on your card issuer.

Chargebacks. Initiating a chargeback through your card issuer without first contacting us in good faith and following the refund-request process above may result in immediate suspension of your account, forfeiture of access to your reading, and additional dispute fees we may pass on to you. We reserve all rights and remedies in connection with disputed charges that we believe to be made in bad faith.

You retain ownership of the answers and any information you submit during the quiz (collectively, “User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, process, store, and analyze your User Content solely for the purpose of operating the service — including determining your archetype results, delivering and re-displaying your reading, and improving the service in aggregate.

You represent and warrant that you have the right to submit your User Content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

HeroQuest is presented as a literary reading drawing on archetypal frameworks, including Joseph Campbell’s monomyth and Carl Jung’s archetype theory. The reading is provided for personal reflection and entertainment.

• HeroQuest is not psychological, medical, mental-health, financial, legal, career, relationship, spiritual, or any other form of professional advice.
• We make no guarantees regarding specific outcomes, transformations, results, benefits, or insights arising from reading or using the content. Any descriptions of changes, shifts, or transformations are general literary descriptions written for an archetype, not predictions or assertions about your individual circumstances.
• The reading does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or replace any professional service, including but not limited to therapy, counseling, medical care, financial planning, or legal counsel.
• Any references to other figures, characters, leaders, or cultural representatives are illustrative and used for educational and editorial purposes only.
• Users experiencing significant distress, mental-health concerns, or any urgent personal situation should consult a qualified professional. HeroQuest is not a substitute for therapy or any other professional intervention.

The HeroQuest name, branding, website design, user interface, archetype descriptions, reading copy, illustrations, and underlying source code are owned by us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The reading you purchase is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use only.

Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to:

• Reproduce, redistribute, sell, sublicense, publish, or otherwise commercially exploit the reading or any portion of it.
• Use the HeroQuest name, branding, or other proprietary materials beyond what is necessary to use the service as intended.
• Use any content from HeroQuest to train, fine-tune, or otherwise develop any artificial intelligence, machine learning, or generative model.
• Scrape, copy, or systematically collect content from HeroQuest by automated means.

You agree not to:

• Use the service in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service.
• Exploit vulnerabilities, circumvent security measures, or interfere with the operation of the service.
• Share your account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account or reading.
• Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access or interact with the service in a manner that exceeds normal usage.
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit your reading or any other content from HeroQuest.
• Submit fraudulent payment information, initiate fraudulent refund requests, or file fraudulent chargebacks.
• Submit content that is harmful, illegal, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or otherwise objectionable.

HeroQuest is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We expressly disclaim all implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of harmful components, or that the reading will meet your expectations or recognize you in any particular way.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall HeroQuest, its owners, operators, employees, contractors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of use, loss of goodwill, or emotional distress, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service or the reading, regardless of the legal theory.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you. In such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HeroQuest, its owners, operators, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the service; (b) your User Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.

Informal Resolution. Before filing any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at support@heroquest.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. Most disputes can be resolved through this process.

Binding Arbitration. If informal resolution fails, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved by binding arbitration, administered in accordance with the rules of a recognized arbitration body in the jurisdiction in which our business is registered. The arbitration shall be conducted in English, and the arbitrator’s decision shall be final and binding. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class Action Waiver. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive any right to participate in class actions or class-wide arbitration.

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your account and access to the service at our sole discretion, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in activity that harms the service, our other users, or our business interests. Such activity includes, but is not limited to: fraudulent purchases, abusive or repeated refund requests, fraudulent chargebacks, violation of the Acceptable Use clause, and submission of false information.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately, and any remaining access to purchased content may be revoked. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including limitation of liability, indemnification, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and any others — shall survive.

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us at support@heroquest.app. Account deletion is subject to the data retention terms described in our Privacy Policy.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by an arbitrator or a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and HeroQuest regarding the use of the service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications, and proposals, whether oral or written.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the service.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which our business is registered, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. To the extent litigation is permitted under these Terms, you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts located in that jurisdiction.
